You're invited to the gun show...

Today's workout:
Run-8-9 miles or so-track workout with pace work, accelerations, and drills
Weights-2 x 15

We went to a gun show tonight, but unfortunately my camera decided to stop sending photos after the first email went through. So instead of the gun show photos tonight you'll be entertained with my second ice bath!

But before we get to the frozen legs, the track workout was great tonight! It was a great temperature and a different workout than we've done before. We did five miles on the track. We did five sets of laps, 1 lap, 2 laps, 3 laps, 4 laps, then 5 laps. Each set of laps was progressively faster. We started at marathon pace for the first lap and ended at about 7:30s for the last 5 laps! Bonnie did the workout with us while Todd rested with the two pups. Todd ran earlier so he could hang with their dogs while Bonnie ran with us.

After the track workout we went to Club Macca. We all went up in weights tonight. I took Kristi's 8-lb weights, so she had to take Wayne's 10-lb weights which meant that Wayne had to go up to 50-lb weights. (Heeheehee!) I think I might have gone up too much on something because my left elbow hurts and not in a good way. I'll try icing it at some point. Hopefully a good night's rest will help it heal.

So Ice Bath #2 tonight. I have a pair of swimming suit bottoms that are padded for bike riding-like tri shorts except without the shorts part-more like tri-underwear. Which is perfect for an ice bath! Tonight I did it a little differently. I sat in the empty tub with padded undies and a sweatshirt and then turned on the cold water. I went to a zen place in my head and it wasn't too bad. Once the water was at the right level to cover my gargantuan muscles, Chris added the ice for me. More zen. It was easier tonight than the first time. Probably because I knew what to expect.

The ice machine in our freezer only has so much ice, so that's all I can add. But here's an actual shot of a real live ice bath in action! I'm cold just looking at it! I guess if I lived in Boston I could just walk outside in my tri-undies and sit in the snow for 10 minutes.

See, it's not all that bad...I still managed to smile for the camera! Kristi and Wayne talked about maybe trying an ice bath tonight. They're going to send in their reports for tomorrow's blog. And stay tuned for the Gun Show tomorrow as long as my camera cooperates.

Caribia and Cheyenne wanted to make an appearance in the blog today to thank Aunt Kristi and Uncle Wayne for their treats! Actually it was Caribia's treat-for her birthday, but they were kind enough to get Cheyenne a treat for Caribia's birthday too! Caribia ate hers in about 20 seconds flat. Cheyenne took hers into the other room, sniffed it, licked it, balanced it between her paws, licked it some more, took a little nibble....this went on for about 15 minutes....such cute little pups!

Ok, here comes the Sandman. When he stops at 809 he means business!

M :)

  1. 20 seconds? No way it would take Caribia that long. Two bites, two seconds!
