Run-98 minutes (10 miles)
Weights-2 x 15
Bike-opted out!
Winter arrived last night around 11pm. I was woken up by the sound of rain. The temp dropped big time too. It was in the 40s and raining for the run this morning. We had two little friends this morning-Caribia came along for the run too, (as well as Cheyenne of course) because we decided to run on the road instead of the trail because it was so wet. Caribia doesn't have trail privileges because she likes to beat up other doggies. Wayne still went on the trail, but Kristi and I ran with the dogs. We ran along the LAB, up Expo to 35th-over to Bull Creek, down to Jefferson, over to my house where we dropped off the pups (and Chris so kindly gave them a much needed bath) and then we ran down Guadalupe back to K and W's place. It was a hilly route, but a great run. I wrote a little limerick about the run today. Here it is.
There once was a group out for a run.
Everyone was having lots of fun.
Along came a snail,
Who was trying to cross the trail,
Kristi stepped on it and the poor snail was done.
Yup, Kristi crunched a snail today. It was actually pretty funny...I saw the snail just before we got to it-it had it's head sticking out and it's little tail sticking out...it was crossing the sidewalk right in front of us-it was pretty big. So I said, "Oh-check out the snail!" and I jumped over it and moved the dogs so they wouldn't step on it. Then I hear Kristi say, "What?" at the same time I hear a little "CRUNCH!" She totally nailed the snail. We turned around to see the damage. It was beyond repair. She said she didn't see it in time and I told her that it was probably a mama snail bringing food back to it's snail home for all the little snail children. Hahahahahaha!
The last half mile or so of the run we were cranking out a 7:42 pace! It felt good, but it was also downhill. Wayne had a great run too, he ran ten miles exactly and ran the whole thing with no stops. After the run we went to Club Macca for weights. 2 sets of 15 today again. I went back to my lower weights. After weights we did the weekly weigh in. No major differences yet, just a gradual increase in muscle and decrease in weight for all of us. Here's what the spreadsheet looks like that Wayne developed to track all the numbers from their crazy scale. He added some "trend lines" today to predict where we will be over the next 19 weeks. Pretty cool!
We decided to opt out of the optional bike ride today. It's still really wet outside and just downright chilly. Granted we could probably set up the trainers to do the hour ride, but I'm already in my pjs. Kristi still wants to ride, so her over-achieving self might spin at Club Macca. My lazy self is going to stay right here in Snuggle City.
Wayne is off to Spain for the week for work, so no riding for him today. (Oh yea, Wayne, if you're reading this, and they happen to sell Drifters and/or Time-Outs in Spain, hook a girl up! Heehee!)
Caribia is sooooo exhausted from the run today-she hasn't run 7.5 miles in a long time! She has barely gotten off the couch!
I hope she's having sweet little doggie dreams and not nightmares about squished snails!
I can't believe we're done with week five already. Time is flying by. We all booked hotels for a weekend in April to go to The Woodlands to ride the course. Bonnie and Todd are going to drive down from Chicago and then we'll all head to The Woodlands for a little course review and to check out the town. Should be fun! It'll be here before we know it!
TTFN,
M :)
