Today's workout:
Swim 80 minutes
First day back to work and I'm already tired! Maybe it's just the weather. It's cold and overcast today. And I'm kinda grumpy. At least it was my last swim with the leaky goggles. My new ones arrived today! Yea!
I had a little upset stomach today. During my swim I was afraid I might have a Code Brown. I couldn't get out to take care of business either because I would have lost my lane. It was so crowded today. It's obviously the first Monday in January. A whole new breed of gym go-ers. Clearly people who have made a new years resolution to get in shape. Which is great-I just wish they weren't all at the gym at the same time as me. I wish there was a way to reserve the pool all to myself! Hahahaha! So I shared my lane with a lady who did a jig. Yup, a jig. She stayed at one end of the pool and did a jig. Then she'd get out and go to the sauna for a few minutes and then come back in my lane for another jig. Then she added some underwater punches. I had to be careful each time I swam past her.
For some reason my fingers got really pruney today. I'm not sure why. I have been surprised that they haven't been pruney at all since starting swimming a month ago. Today they started to prune after about 40 minutes. I can still see the wrinkles an hour after getting out of the pool.
I have to say that I am getting pretty discouraged with the swim drills. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing and I feel like I might be doing more harm than good by trying to do them. I just can't swim and I feel like a total idiot when I try to do them. I get so frustrated with myself. I couldn't even swim a lap in under a minute today when I tried to go "fast". Negative Nancy today, that's for sure.
I've been using the buoys that they have at the gym. I used to have one, but I left it at Deep Eddy one day last summer by accident and haven't seen it since. I think I've already talked about my germ-a-phobia of the gym. Well, the buoy only helped to feed that phobia. I ended up with a rash on my legs, just above my knees where I had the buoy today for the arm exercises. I won't be using the public buoy again, ever.
So I managed to somehow finish 80 minutes of swimming without drowning or drinking the entire pool. There were so many peeps in the changing room. The Jig Lady was in the shower next to me, and she was hacking up loogies, spitting, and making barfing sounds the whole time I was in there. People can be so disgusting. I think I might have lost it if she'd been making those sounds in the pool.
Ugh. So that's done. Home to feed and walk the pups, unpack my gym bag and my lunch box, pick out tomorrow's outfit and pack tomorrow's lunch. And it's only the first day back to work.
Yuck.
M :)
