An all-indoor workout today

Today's workout:
Bike-120 minutes on the trainer
Run-20 minutes on the treadmill
Swim-30 minutes in the pool

Rain rain go away, come again some other day (preferably on a Monday or Friday, or after May 21st.) Boy oh boy, I would say we're out of our drought after this weekend of non-stop rain! We decided to set up the trainers on the front porch for the ride today. It was pouring a little too much to risk riding outside with the rain, traffic and puddles.

We were supposed to do 120-180 minutes today. We opted for 120. I can't figure out why it is so much more uncomfortable to ride on a trainer than ride on the road. But it wasn't too bad. It was good training for the mental piece of the race. It was boring and uncomfortable, which is probably a little how the 112 miles on the bike might be during the race. We had the radio jamming so that helped. The first 45 minutes went by really quickly, but every minute after that dragged so slowly.....

Wayne's in good form, fresh off the plane last night from Spain. Kit kats in hand!

This was the oh-so-exciting view for two hours this morning.

After biking we decided we would just run on the treadmills at the gym because it was still pouring and only in the 40s. Cold and rainy is one un-fun combo. Bonnie texted to say she ran 7.5 miles this morning in 21 degree weather!

So K and W went to run at Club Macca and I went to 24 Hour Fitness. I didn't have to wait for a treadmill which was great. I ran 20 minutes. It felt so nice to get into the pool after the run. I forgot how hot you get running inside! I had a chill swim. It felt good to stretch out while swimming.

I can't believe the first six-weeks are over tomorrow. I must say I'm feeling better than I thought I would at this point in the training. The first six weeks in the training are designed to get us into the habit of working out every day and to get adapted to the time it takes each week. We started the training with a pretty good workout base so that seems to have helped. The next six weeks is designed to focus on strength training. Whatever that means! It's called the "Aerobic Phase." The first six weeks was called the "Adaptation Phase." The next six weeks could be interesting!

That's about it for now, but here's a cool photo that Chris took of downtown Austin, before the rains came.

Ah, I remember what sunny Austin looks like now....can't wait for those days again! I just don't know how people can live in Washington state and keep their sanity with all that rain and cold.....

Later gators,
M :)
