Banana hammock

Today's workout:
Swim-85 minutes

No bike ride tonight-it's a back week. There are two schedules in the training book. One says to do an optional ride tonight and the other one says no ride tonight. So we decided not to do it. It makes such a difference not getting up early in the morning to swim. I'm tired, but I feel much better than this time last week.  It was really, really busy at the pool tonight. All the lanes were full with at least two people in each lane for almost the entire 85 minutes. The swim was fine tonight. Pretty uneventful. Except for the older gentleman wearing the modified banana hammock. With slightly more coverage than a traditional hammock, and looser than most,  the bathing suit offered little in the way of support. The gentleman, with a clear penchant for exhibitionism, positioned himself on the bench at the end of my lane, with his legs apart, and leaned back against the wall. Lovely. Just lovely.

When I swim, I like to sight the same spot each time I come up for a breath of air. I usually sight my pink Nalgene water bottle that says MIT on the side of it. The gentleman however, ruined that sight for me. Today I mastered the fine art of sighting with my eyes closed.

I'd like to say the story ends there. But oh no, there's more. The gentleman decided it was time for a swim. So he moved from the bench and took a seat on the side of the pool. With one leg draped in the pool and the other leg propped up on the side of the pool, the hammock was even more on display. Again, lovely. Just lovely.  I held my breath and waited for him to select a lane. He was right in between my lane and the lane next to me. I tried to swim especially large strokes, to show that it might be a little crowded in my lane.  He opted for the lane next to mine. There are some pretty interesting people at that gym.

I ate pretty well today, but I still got hungry at the end of the swim. I even ate a powerbar during the swim! I found this delicious bread from HEB. It's the HEB brand French Toast bread. Yummy stuff. I'm sure it will make a delightful middle of the night snack.

Ok, time to snuggle with the pups now.

TTFN!
