Today's workout:
Swim 90 minutes
So I had a visit from two more of Grumpy's sisters today. Sleepy hung out in my office most of the day. She tried to get me to give into her sleepy ways, but I didn't. So she left. Then on the swim, the little known 8th dwarfy sister, Hungry, jumped into my lane with me. She gave me a good run for my money, but I managed to loose her at HEB. I left her in the checkout lane.
I got home and found Happy waiting for me. Happy decided to visit Doc tomorrow because she's feeling a little Sneezy, and take a "Sick Day", "Mental Health Day", and/or "Exhaustion Day". With more than a month of sick time banked, and an impending lay-off in the near future, Happy Ironman-in-Training doesn't need too much of an excuse to catch up on some much-needed rest.
I had to wait for a swim lane tonight. They were all full. One of the skinny lanes had a rather large gentleman in it swimming a rather large, lane-filling stroke, one lane had two people swimming non-stop laps, and the third lane had two lovebirds who had decided to make a date out of a trip to 24-Hour Fitness. They would "swim" from one end to the other, together, and then stop to take a break. The break included giggling, talking, staring at each other, little kisses on the cheek, flirting, and playing around trying to pull each other under the water. After about five minutes of waiting for the frolicking to end, Grannie Mary gave them the Stink Eye. They saw me glaring and decided to "swim" a few more laps before stopping for more lovin'. Oh boy. It's a good thing one of the people in the other lane got out or I might have had to open a can of whoop.....(Sorry, Grumpy got a hold of the computer there for a second...)
Once I was in the lane and swimming, the workout went along just fine. Monday's always seem to fly by. I like all the different drills-they make time pass by so quickly!
When I swim, I like to park on the other side of the gym-over by the HEB. There's always more parking there, and I sometimes like to pick up an item or two after a swim. I had a primo front spot today. Or so I thought. Have you ever seen Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds? Well, this is what it felt like on the way back to my car....
I could hear the birds from across the parking lot-I was thinking, "It's so nice that we have birds year round down here, I love the sound of birds. Not like up north where all the birds flee for the winter and you don't hear birds for four months of the year..." Well, all the birds from the north had apparently decided to hold a bird conference in the tree under which my car was parked. I could barely hear myself think..."Oh, I hope I don't get pooped on, that wouldn't make me happy...oh man, they're pooping all over my car....but I have to go to HEB...should I move my car? But there aren't any empty spaces near by..."
This is a picture from "The Birds", but it's also a picture from "The Tree At HEB And The Poor Sap Who Parked Underneath It". When I got back to the car after my trip into the store, you could see the splatters of bird poop from clear across the parking lot. I should have moved my car. I guess they all poop at once when the sun sets. I could barely see through the windshield! Guess I'll have to fit a car wash into my "Sick Day."
Time for beddy bye.
G'night!
M :)
