Today's workout:
Swim-90 minutes
Yoga-Ten Pound Slimdown Yoga
Walk-45 minutes with the pups
Now this is more like the Austin winter I know and love, sunny and in the 60s. The weatherman said the sun would be here by noon so I swam in the morning. (Off today for MLK day.) The swim was fine. Nothing too exciting. I did all the drills Kristi showed me last week. After a warm-up I did five laps of each of them, and then did a cool-down.
When I woke up this morning I was more stiff and sore than I've been throughout the entire training so far. Which is strange since we just finished a back week. I haven't been using the roller as much as I did in the early weeks, so I did the roller before the swim this morning. I was almost in tears it was so painful on certain parts of my legs. I guess I need to do it almost daily. I slept 10 hours last night. That's a lot for me! I guess I really needed to recharge my batteries.
I decided to do a slightly longer yoga today to see if that would help loosen up my muscles a little more. The next shortest program is called Ten Pound Slimdown. It's 25 minutes instead of 21 minutes. I really liked this new one better than that Zen In Your Den. It seems to be more geared towards core strength. I liked the poses and the vinyasa of this program. (Vinyasa means flow, I learned that today from the yoga instructor!)
It was a very pleasant afternoon-sky filled with sun, rain dried up off all the hard surfaces-the ground is still wet, but the deck and roads are all dry. I sat on the deck and read a book while the dogs napped in the sun. Then we took a family walk-about 45 minutes. I started feeling tired, sore, and a little grumpy on the walk. I had a muffin and a glass of milk after the walk. Wayne said as long as I have dairy with my carbs, I'm good to go. Helps the carbs to process correctly to be better for your body. (or something like that...) I'm feeling better now that I'm chilled on the couch with my feet up and the sun is warming the room. And Cheyenne is tucked up against my side sleeping and Caribia is on the next cushion down snoring.
TTFN,
M :)
