So this is what normal life is like....

Today's workout:
Bike-14 miles
Run-5-6 miles

Short workout today-done by 11:30 am. I can't remember the last time we were done that early. Nice workout today, the Beer Family represented-Chris came on the bike ride and the pups came on the run!

This weekend has been so nice and relaxing. Yesterday I read a bunch of magazines on the back deck and ran some errands. I also got my eyebrows waxed and tinted. I went to a cheapo place around the corner instead of my usual nice salon because it takes about a week to get an appointment there. They did my eyebrows way too dark. Here's a photo of what they look like.

Take away the moustache and cigar, and put my face in there instead of Groucho's and that's what I look like!

Today I took a nap on the deck after the workout and then Chris and I went to look for some patio furniture. It was so nice to spend the afternoon with Chris. I feel like he and I haven't been able to hang out in months! (Besides at the house, but it's always more exciting to run errands together.) We didn't find anything that will work perfectly for the deck, and I got a little car sick from all the starting and stopping, but other than that, it was a good afternoon.

Except for the creep who was urinating in the Walmart parking lot. Right next to his car. He had the back door of his car open, and he was just standing there shaking out his weenie for the whole world to see. Totally disgusting. Remind me not to go to that Walmart again. Gross.

I also started a new book this weekend-the first one I've started in months. And usually I read a book every couple of weeks. I'm reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. So far so good. I'm so happy to be returning to normal life again!

I found a good posting about the swim. It's from the "i am tri" website. Here's what the post says:

"As for the run course, I would say it is almost completely flat, a few very minor and very short uphills. The big factor to me is the potential of lack of shade on the majority of the course. There are parts of the course where the road runs parallel with very nice paved paths (paths are probably 8-10 feet across) and the paths are almost completely shaded, but we were not sure if the race will be on the road or on the path on those sections. If it's on the roads and not on the paths, prepare yourself for a run of about 95% in the direct sunlight. If it's on the paths, then probably 1/3 of the run course is in the shade. As for spectators, the run course is very spectator friendly. If your family or friends find a good spot along the canal, they can actually see you up to 6 times instead of 3 because we run on one side of the canal heading out and the other side coming in (just be sure it is along the canal on one of the out and back spots of the run to get this double viewing).

As for the swim, I hope the video below gives you a good idea of what the course is like. It took me about 20 minutes to walk from where the transition area is over to the swim start, so using that as a point of reference, on race morning with the crowds I would allow for at least 30-40 minutes to walk over to the swim start from transition and get settled. I shot video footage beginning in the back of the Marriott Waterway (the host hotel) and working my way down the path to where the swim exit and transition area is. I should add that the part where you see the tourist boat in the canal is very narrow, but it is NOT part of the swim course. From there, I worked my way back down the canal and around the lake towards the swim start. I mention this in the video, but the thing I was most happy about is that the lake is very, very wide, and even the canal is much wider than I thought. I don't think there will be any problems in it being too crowded except for maybe the normal first 200-400 meters at the start. My apologies for the quality of the audio in some parts, but the wind was really blowing hard and muffled out my voice in some sections."

And here's the you tube video that was posted there.

I feel a little better about the swim after watching the video. He said it was a windy day, but the lake water still looks pretty calm. Hopefully it won't be anything near as choppy as Lake Travis was for our open water swim a couple months ago. I like the canal part of the swim because I might be able to see Chris and Annabelle along that part. Of course I'll have to look for them because there's no way they'll be able to pick me out from 2700 other swimmers! Unless I'm at the very end, then I'll be easy to find! Hahaha!

Ok, time to find something to eat.

M :)
