Today's workout:
Swim-80 minutes
I quit the gym today after my swim! My membership is still active for thirty more days, they just stop taking money out of my account since I paid one month in advance when I signed up. It was such an awesome feeling to quit! Tonight's swim was sweet. Each drill that I did I told myself, "This is the last time you ever, ever have to do this drill!" And it helped me power through the workout! I did all the drills and swam some extra laps. After 80 minutes I felt like stopping, so I did! (Next Monday is just a regular shorter swim. No drills.)
It is getting to be summer here now. It's so hot that the lotions in my gym bag were still hot after my long swim! They sat cooking in my car all day and didn't cool down after an hour and a half indoors! And the water that was in my car was as hot as tea. And the blistex in my car melted when I put it on my lips. Yup, it's summer here for sure.
Apparently Obama is coming to Austin tomorrow. Kristi says that he's in town to wish us a happy race. How exciting!
My allergies aren't much better today. I just took a break from the blog just now to blow my nose. It took five tissues to clear my sinuses. When I was on tissue number four Chris said, "You've been kind of disgusting lately, what with your toes and your nose." I started to disagree, but it's kind of true.
I have a podiatrist appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning. I'm sure the toe is fine. It doesn't hurt at all. I just want to check if I need to cut off what's left of the original nail so it doesn't get ingrown or anything. (Yea, I am pretty disgusting....)
I'm feeling pretty good considering it's a Monday. Usually Monday's are pretty tough, but with the tapered workouts I'm been feeling ok today. I'm just so happy that this training is almost over. In fact, I was feeling so good after the swim because the training is almost over that I decided to celebrate by cooking dinner! I can't remember the last time I cooked dinner! I made my favorite Summer Tomato Basil Pasta. Yummy! And then I baked cupcakes for my interns last week at school. It's so nice to get back to some normal life activities.
Here are some things that I'm looking forward to after May 21st.
1. Garage sale-ing with Chris.
2. Evening out my tri tan
3. Cooking dinner when I feel like it
4. Going for a short bike ride on a Saturday afternoon, just because I want to
5. Renting movies and being able to watch them in one sitting and not falling asleep
6. Maybe even having a beer on a patio somewhere!
7. Never, ever having to swim again
8. Walking the puppies whenever I want since I won't be tired
9. Working on my Rosetta Stone Spanish class
10. Weekend hikes with Chris and the pups
I am looking forward to the event, but I'll be so relieved when it's over. Only 11 more days.
M :)
