What a day! Everyone is having such a great day today! Where to start.....
Kristi, Bonnie, and Todd all ran the Chuy's 5K this morning. And boy did they run! Check out these times and age group finishes....
Kristi-22:59 8th place
Bonnie-20:57 3rd place
Todd-18:57-6th place
And there were a lot of people in each age group!!!! Bonnie won a fish for her 3rd place finish. Her first time to place in a race ever! Yeeehawww!
And Annabelle ran a 10K this morning up in Jersey and finished in an impressive 49:53!
And my nephew Aidan is going to a Phillies game tonight for Little League Night. He gets to parade around the field with his team before the official game starts! Here's his picture on the way to the stadium.
And here's the picture of him down on the field.
And here's a picture of his biggest fan! His sister Abby!
What a fun night for the Broadhead family!
My morning was no way near as exciting as everyone elses. Just the usual 30 minute swim. Lots of snot and coughing. I had to evacuate my lane instead of stretch at the end of the 30 minutes because someone coughed up a loogy and it was floating around in the pool. That person shouldn't be allowed back into the pool. Thank god for pool filtration systems and chlorine.
The ride was good today. Brad and Mayling joined us and we headed south to Mountain City. It was warm pretty early on in the ride-I finished two bottles of water within the first 11 miles. Of course we had the wind again today. 16 mph from the south. We stuck with it and somehow made it to Mountain City where we took a nice 30-45 minute break. It was such a nice rest stop. The weather was beautiful (besides the wind), the sun was shining and it was getting hot. Which I love. We just sat and chilled in the sun for a while. Bonnie rested her legs that she said felt like Jello. Here's a shot of the champ relaxing.
Here's one of the gang chilling.
And here's one of yours truly enjoying the sunshine.
The ride back into town was so wonderful. Wind at our backs the entire way. I almost got crushed at one point, on the narrow bridge on Old San Antonio Road. The road narrows to cross a bridge. I was going 25 mph and I looked back for cars. One passed me and there was another a ways off, so I started to veer into the road to make the bridge because the shoulder disappears over the bridge. Well when I did that, the other car decided it didn't want to wait for me to cross the bridge first, and it continued to stay in it's lane. It came up right behind me, and as I was moving over to cross the bridge, it was if we were making a "v" and we were both going to arrive at the point of the "v" at the same time. So I slammed on my brakes and let him go. As he completed his pass Sailor Mary came out of nowhere and let out a nice loud, "F***ing A**hole!" I felt better after that. But the moment did kill my speed mojo and I was at the bottom of a hill.
So I slowly made my way up the hill and then decided to have a snack. I practiced eating while biking. I managed to have a bagel, some goldfish crackers, and an accel gel. I kept moving the whole time and sat up to eat which gave my neck and shoulders a nice break. It'll be pretty easy to eat on the bike with the wind behind me on race day, but juggling food with a headwind is going to be tricky.
At our last rest stop Bonnie and I decided to have a few snacks. Bonnie opted for a beer and I had some pork rinds.

Hahahaha!
Then we made our way back into town and said goodbye to Brad and Maying at their home. We were going to go 10 more miles to call it 60 for the day, but Todd was already waiting for Bonnie here at the house, so we ended up finishing at 54 miles.
I knew it was hot on the ride, but was loving it so much I didn't even pay attention to how hot it really was. I was definitely hot on the run. I ran up to Central Market, around twice, and back home. A couple blocks from home I spotted a cute young man walking two of the most adorable dogs I have ever seen! So I decided to walk in the last couple blocks with them.
Then I checked the temperature. 97 degrees! Wow! I didn't think it was that hot! I sure do love the heat.
Kristi and Wayne went to their nieces dance recital today so after Kristi's race they swam, and then they biked this afternoon. I don't have a report in from them yet, but I'm hoping it all went well for them.
I was just about to post this entry when the McCulloch report came in! Kristi said they had the same winds that we did. They did some loops between her parent's house, mopac, and slaughter.
All in all a fun day. I feel pretty good. Time for an ice bath!
M :)
I have to say I appreciate you guys allowing K & W to switch their schedule up on Saturday to let them come watch the dance recital! And a huge thanks to K & W for changing things up so close to race time!! The little one was super pumped to have everyone there!!
