Packing day!

Today's workout:
Bike-14 miles
Run-3 miles

First things first. I had a request to post the information about how to track your favorite athlete on line during the race. Here's the official Ironman website.

http://ironmantexas.com/

I think that if you go to that website on Saturday, there should be a button that says something like "Athlete Tracker". You can then enter either a race number or a last name. Here are the race numbers:

Kristi-193
Wayne-1375
Bonnie-211
Todd-1909
Mary-370

I hope that works for everyone.

I spent the afternoon packing. Three hours. I organized according to the different events and transition bags. Here's a photo of my packing.

I hope I have all the main things I need. I can probably get anything I forget while I'm out there. As long as I have the main things like bike, shoes, etc.

The bike ride tonight was interesting. We were about five miles into the ride when we heard what sounded like a cap gun going off-a really loud pop. It was my rear tire. I must have filled it up too much and then it exploded in the heat. The same thing happened to my tire last summer. We pulled over so that I could change it. Bonnie offered to hold my bike for me, but I wanted to try to change the tire completely by myself as practice in case I get a flat in the race. Wayne timed me and it took me just under ten minutes. Kristi reminded me that I forgot to check if the tube was pinched anywhere, so it'll take me probably 11-12 minutes during the race. That's a long time. I'm going to take my bike to Austin Tricyclist tomorrow before heading out of town so they can change it out properly for me. I think I also messed up the brake cable a little during the change. At least it happened tonight, get it out of the way.

Then we got home and I couldn't find my keys. I thought I had left them on the sidewalk when I changed the flat. So I raced up to the spot where I thought they would be. But while I was driving up there I was replaying the flat fix in my mind and I remembered putting them in the bag. So I called Chris and asked him to check my bike bag again for me. Because I didn't have an extra tube in the bag, the keys had fallen all the way to the bottom of the bag and I didn't see them at first. Sometimes I can be really stupid. So I drove back home and changed for the run. Caribia and Cheyenne came along for the run. It was a really slow, hot run for them. And they must have peed about four times each, and pooped too. But I just love running with them.

I found a cool you tube video today.

I'm trying to find things to help me get pumped up for the race. I still feel more ambivalent than I want to. I'm sure that once I get down to the Woodlands tomorrow I'll feel more excited.

I still have some packing to do. I might just wait until tomorrow. I have to wait until ATC opens at 10am before I leave now, so I'll have some extra time in the morning. And it's already 9:30. My bedtime.

M :)
