Today's workout:
Off
Nice long walk with the pups
So I have a friend on Facebook who I knew when I was in middle school. She lives in New Hampshire and does a bootcamp every morning on the beach. Here are some photos from her workout this morning, April 1, 2011. Vicki is the second one from the right.
And we're here in Texas 90 degrees sweating it up! I can promise you that I will never move north again! I will be sure to think about Vicki when I am struggling along in the workouts this weekend!
I went to the grocery store this morning to pick up a few items for the weekend. Here's a pic of my basket.
Carbs, carbs, carbs, and a banana. The Ironman-in-Training diet!!! Tomorrow I'm going to take the following items along for my nutrition on the ride:
(4) Mini wheat bagels with dark chocolate almond butter
(2-3) tangerines
Goldfish crackers
Honey stingers
Powerbars
Hopefully that will be good. I'm going to have really eat a lot this weekend. I had a potato tonight for dinner instead of pasta. It was pretty yummy. I'm trying to practice exactly what I'll have the night before the actual event.
Let's see, what else to report from today....oh yeah, I picked up the wetsuits today for Sunday's Open Water Swim. The lake temperature is 65 degrees today. Brrrr. And I made an appointment to get my bike overhauled with possibly new tires and a new chain if needed. I'l bring it in on a Sunday and pick it up on a Tuesday so I won't have to miss any workouts while it's in the shop.
Yesterday I posted a question on the I Am Tri Texas Ironman discussion board asking about the bike course and convenience stores along the course. We're planning on riding the course at the end of the month. So far I've received a few responses. They mostly say that the route that's on the actual Ironman website isn't quite accurate. All the postings I've read on the discussion board about the bike course say that there are sections of it that have no shoulder and 65 mph traffic. I'm not too thrilled with that. They also say that water stops are sparse. This might be a scary ride...one I might even end up skipping! We'll have to see......
Other than that, not much else. A great walk with the pups-despite the heat. We got to watch an ambulance helicopter take off from the heart hospital-always very cool to see! Cheyenne has taken up her permanent summer residence on the a/c vent. Cute little thing.
That's all for now!
M :)
