Ride-61 minutes (14 miles)
Run-94 minutes (10 miles)
Weights-2 x 15
While we were riding this morning, an hour earlier because of the time change, a couple of late night revellers were walking down the street. Once their vision cleared, and they realized we were on bikes, one of the raised his fist in the air and yelled, "Viva La Lance!"
The ride was good, Brad come along. Nice and chill, just stretching out our legs before the run. It was a "shorter" run today. "Only" ten miles. Which is short considering this training, but for any normal human being, it's a pretty long run! It was muggy today and really humid. But it was only in the upper 60s and low 70s so it wasn't unbearable. Cheyenne came along of course, and we ran down to the lake, the five mile loop, and back up. My favorite part of the run was when Buggy jumped in Town Lake to cool off. She went swimming, splashing, and running around with the other pups. She was in heaven! Muddy heaven, but still, heaven! She had so much fun! I love to watch her when she just gets to run around like crazy. After her romp she got back in pace and stayed with her mama for the rest of the run. She's such a good running dog. I know I say that every time I run with her, but it's so true.
Weights were good today again. Kristi got a pair of weight lifting gloves because her hands were getting so calloused. And would you believe that the gloves are so amazing she was able to go up to 35 lb free weights? Here's a photo to prove it!!
What a powerhouse!
I came up with a really good idea at the gym today. Wayne was saying that he wants to add more fat to his nutrition on the bike ride. I suggested he try some pringles, but then I thought they might get too smooshed, so I suggested he try some goldfish. He said he didn't like the cheddar flavor, but I told him they have lots of other flavors including pizza, pretzel, and parmesan. He said that I always some up with the greatest ideas, and the funniest jokes.
Then we were talking about the Chicago Marathon and I said it would be one of my first races as a 40-year-old and that I could register in a special class, but I couldn't remember what it was called. Wayne said that it was called the "Clydesdale" class. I told him that the last time I checked I was not a 200-lb man. Then I remembered, I'm going to be a "Master's" class athlete. I like the sound of that. Aging with some dignity! I think I'll legally change my name to "Master Mary", except that would be more for a guy, so I guess I'd be "Mistress Mary", but that doesn't sound any better....oh forget it. I'll just be Mary.
Chillin on the couch with the pups now, gonna ice bath later. About to start a book called "The Sweet Potato Queens Guide to Love." Supposed to be pretty funny! Thank god it's Spring Break!!!
M :)
