A bear and a rabbit

Today's workout:
Ride-60 minutes
Run-127 minutes (13 miles)
Weights 2x15

It's such a good thing that we switched the workouts this weekend. We would have been blown away if we were on our bikes! Steady wind of 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph! Crazy! When we set up the trainers it was raining and cold and windy. Gross. We rode for an hour. I got the award for being most lazy on the ride today. I maintained a strenuous 11 mph the entire time. Haha!

Luckily while we were riding it stopped raining and the sun came out. We changed and headed out for a run. Of course Bugly came along. She's such a wonderful running partner. We were supposed to do 12 miles today, or 120 minutes, but there's a really long detour on the seven mile loop around the lake. I think it adds close to 3/4 of a mile. The run was great. Nice and relaxed pace, and beautifully sunny. It was only about 60 degrees too, perfect running weather. I really think the weights are helping for soreness and injury prevention. And the ice baths too.

Then after the run I got a ride down to Club Macca with K and W. There is no parking in the city of Austin today. I think Austin is hosting more events over the next few weeks, then it does during the entire rest of the year.

The weights were good. It's going to be weird to change up the weights in a few weeks when we stop doing the leg weights, but the training hasn't led us astray yet, so it must know what it's talking about. Most of the weight session today was spent discussing a joke. I told a joke, and then we had a major discussion about it. Here's the joke.

There's a bear and a rabbit walking through the woods. The bear says that he has to stop to take care of his business. The rabbit is hanging out waiting for the bear. The bear asks the rabbit, "Hey Rabbit, do you have problem with poop sticking to your fur?" Rabbit says, "No." So the bear picks up the rabbit and wipes.

It's one of my favorite jokes. Kristi laughed a little bit and Wayne didn't laugh at all. I asked Wayne if he heard the joke and he said yes. I asked if he'd heard the punch line and he said yes, but that he thought it wasn't funny. He said a funnier ending to the joke would be if the rabbit responded, "Does a bear shit in the woods?" I didn't get it. He said, "In Australia...." and then he explained it. I still don't really get it. I think it was funnier the way I told it.

After we discussed alternative punch lines, Kristi says, "But if the poop doesn't stick to the rabbit's fur, how will it clean the bear's butt?" Hmmm...that one had me stumped. Does poop "stick" to toilet paper? I guess it does technically.....sorry, this blog is going downhill fast....I better quit while I'm ahead! Hahahaha!

Chris was awesome enough to pick me up from Club Macca to save me from walking home. We went to Panera for lunch. It wasn't so good today. I have a really complicated order, for a very simple sandwich. I like fresh mozzerella and tomato on a french bread baguette. That's it. Nothing else. Well, they don't have a sandwich like that on the menu. They have a hot panini sandwich, but it's on different bread and it has other ingredients on it like roasted tomatoes and some kind of basil spread. And it's grilled. Chris just stood next to me shaking his head while the order taker tried to make sense of the whole thing. The order taker said that I should order "A grilled cheese sandwich, substitute mozzerella for the regular cheese, add tomato, and request it un-grilled." That seems more complicated than my original order. But he seemed confident he knew what he was doing. I was concerned that he said "mozzerella" and not "fresh mozzerella" because they can sometimes be two completely different things, depending on where you are ordering from. But I let it go.

So when our little buzzer went off Chris went to collect our food. He returned shaking his head. He said, "This isn't what you ordered." Chris knows me so well. And he's grown so patient with my crazy orders over the last twelve years. The only thing they got right were the tomatoes and the fact that it wasn't grilled. The cheese was the square, pre-cut slices of mozzarella cheese, not the fresh buffalo style, and the bread was regular sandwich bread and not a french baguette. So I walked it back over to the sandwich maker and told him exactly what I wanted. And I got it. Phew. Sometimes it's a little difficult to be me.

All in all I feel really good after today's workout. We'll have see how much tomorrow is affected by doing the long run today. Could be interesting.

Ok, time for a movie because it's too cold to sit on the back deck.

M :)
