I really need some new shorts.

Today's workout:
Run-70 minutes
Weights-2 x 15

I really hate chaffing. And tonight I wore the same shorts as Saturday's long run. They were great on Saturday, but today for some reason they caused chaffing. I think I may have stretched the legs of the shorts with my Incredible Hulk Thunder Thighs so the elasticity doesn't hold them in place anymore. Hahaha! But seriously, I have to find some better running shorts. I guess I'll have to hunt down a comfy pair of tri-shorts. They have the built in elastic around the leg which keeps them in place.

And my other ailments-my neck healed up nicely after a semi-good night's sleep. And two aleve. And my swimmer's ear seems to have cleared up with Bonnie's recommended swimmer's ear product. And (knock on wood) the leg thing hasn't acted up again lately. I ran in some new sneakers and they weren't super comfy. They are the next generation Brooks Ravenna. I think I'll have to return them. I thought they gave me a blister, but they didn't. They're just not as comfy as the original version. I'll have to call around to find somewhere that has the older pair.

Tonight's workout was good. Perfect running weather. Mid 70s in the sun and 60s in the shade. No humidity at all, sunny as could be. Light wind from the north. (I think...) We had to do six 5-minute stretches at a HR 3. Followed by 2 minutes recovery in between each one. I felt like I had my pacing down pretty good-the last one was just as uncomfortable as the first one. I felt fine the whole time, but it was a tough workout for sure! I felt like I was breathing so hard-I would pass people and think about all the times I get passed by the heavy breather, the heavy stepper, the shuffler, the person running with change in their pocket.....I tried to pass them as quickly as possible so they wouldn't be stuck listening to my heavy breathing while they were out for a nice relaxing run! Hahaha! I missed Buggy tonight, she would have loved the weather!

The weights were good-I can't believe that we stop doing the leg weights in about two weeks. I also can't believe that we are about 10 weeks out from the event! (Chris has encouraged me to think about the Ironman as an "event" instead of a "race".  It helps me to not worry about being fast, just to focus on pacing.  Similar to our hikes in the Grand Canyon, or the Swiss Alps, or our Honeymoom Hike up the Grand Tetons.) And speaking of Grand Tetons...there was this girl in the elevator with us on our way up to Club Macca. Good lord, her twins just out there for the world to see. She had a puppy with her that she was trying to control, and she kept bending over to hold the dog's mouth shut when it would growl at the other dog in the elevator. She should have been more concerned about holding her bra shut than her dog's mouth! And then she and her boyfriend decided to switch the dogs that they were holding so that he could control the puppy-so they had to maneuver their way around the already packed elevator. Wayne did a fabulous impersonation. Wish I had caught it on camera. Would have been the best blog yet!

Ok, I still have to shower and eat. I'm getting very stinky and hungry. Can't wait for Spring Break! One more work day!!!!  Yeeehawww!

M :)
