Bike-70 minutes trainer (17 miles)
Run-28 minutes (3.3 miles)
Austin's Fittest Dog......after a 3.3 mile run in 80 degree heat at a steady mama heart rate of 2-3......
Close up of her face...
Her tongue is hanging out the other side. Poor chy!
When we were waiting for the light by Central Market she actually laid down on the ground! She sure was exhausted! My Sunday run with her is much slower than tonight's run. The training said to do the run tonight at a heart rate of 2-3, so we did. I think it was more so the heat than the speed for Buggy though. She's like her papa, she likes the a/c and the winter.
The trainer ride tonight was fun. I really like the workouts that have us doing steady pace in the high gear and aero bars. We had to do 10/8/6/4 minutes cadence of 90-100 in the aero bars with HR of 3. It was good to practice the aero bars again to get my back used to the positioning. For the final four minutes I kicked it up an extra gear and kept it around 22-23 mph with a cadence of about 95-98. I could tell a difference with the heat too, like Buggy. I was dripping with sweat most of the bike workout, but I love the heat. 80 degrees is perfect for me. I drank two big bottles of water during the workout.
I found out that I can get a free bike fitting at Austin Tricyclist, so I'm going to do that next week during Spring Break. They said that they can make any adjustments they need to so that I can get the most comfort out of the aero bar positioning.
The run tonight was great too. Chris and Caribia ran the first mile with us and then they cut off to walk around the Central Market loop. It was still 80 degrees, but no sun, which was nice. I was hot in the reflective vest, but this should be the last time I need to wear it since the clocks change this weekend. I tried my hardest to keep at a 2-3 heart rate. It felt good. I can tell that my endurance is changing, because I find it easier to maintain a HR 2-low 3. Poor buggy had to stop a few times for water and we had to slow down towards the end for her. Except at the very end when she saw papa and Caribia up ahead and decided to turn on the turbo boost and pull me down the street for a sprint to the finish! That Bug is something else.
That's all for tonight, but before I go, Cheyenne just got up from her nap for a minute and wanted to say goodnight.
I just love that dog!
G'night!
M :)
