Bike-71 minutes on the trainer
Yoga-10-lb slim down
Wow! What a day! The biggest thing that happened today was this crazy weather. It was 80 degrees on Sunday, 70 degrees yesterday and today it's 32? Going down to 18 tonight? Crazy gusty winds? What's up with this? It feels like we're in Chicago! Except that they are even colder than us with tons of snow. Our 32 degrees is still 59 degrees warmer than Jamestown, North Dakota where my parents are. It was minus 27 with the windchill for them today. And that was a daytime high! I just checked their weather again and it's minus 10 with a minus 35 windchill right now and the actual temperature is going to drop to minus 21 tonight.
Here's the thermostat in Kristi's car.
I woke up this morning to my phone alarm telling me it was time to register for the Chicago marathon. Yup, that's right. We're not even half-way through the Ironman training and Kristi already has us signing up for another marathon! I told her to remember this day, February 1st, 32 degrees, when we are running hill repeats up Stratford in 110 degrees in August. Now it's recorded in the blog, it's official proof that Kristi is responsible for the October craziness.
I took the girls for a long walk this morning. It was about 20 degrees with the wind chill. (I don't know that for sure, but it sure felt like it.) It was downright miserable! Poor Caribia actually turned her head away from the wind and had a little cringe look on her sweet little face. And this is a dog who ran in blizzards with me up north! That's how cold it was today!
So the other big news today, besides the weather, was the photo shoot! We dragged Kristi along to take some photos-I think she was hating it the whole time-it was sooooo cold! But it was awesome she was there-she took some great photos! We met the Editor-in-chief and the photographer at the Greenbelt. We went a little earlier to get Cheyenne used to the area. Brian, the photographer took us over to an area with water and rock ledges. He took some stills, some action, and a few with Chris and I. We won't know which shots will be in the mag until it comes out in March. Here is a sampling of the behind-the-scenes photos that our personal photographer took.
The Editor-In-Chief told us that eleven dogs were selected from hundreds of applications. He said that seven of the eleven winning dogs had video entries! Thank goodness Chris put together our video! That definitely won it for Chy! The EIC said that they were looking for breeds that they hadn't featured before, and that it boiled down to looking at which dog was actually the fittest based on the owner's description. Yea Cheyenne!!!!! We can't wait for the magazine to come out.
Tonight's workout was trainer/run. We did the trainer workout wearing multiple layers. We were pretty sheltered from the wind by being in the carport, but it was still cold. The workout was really easy tonight because it's a back week. We made the executive decision (well, Wayne and I made the decision) that we wouldn't do the run tonight. It is just too ridiculously cold. We have been doing every workout in the training, so we decided that it would be ok if we skipped this run. It's only a 20 minute run anyway. So we did yoga instead. Luckily Chy was too tired to bug us and Caribia had a bone to eat, so they left us alone. While we did yoga Chris braved the cold to go pick up sushi. Nice post-workout dinner.
I have to report an injury tonight. The injury is to my ear cartilage. Don't laugh, this is serious. Each night after I swim, it hurts to sleep on my ear! I think it's from having the swim cap pressure on my ear for 90 minutes. I'm going to have to start swimming with my ears sticking out. That'll be cute.
Boy, what a fun day! Well, back to the daily grind tomorrow. We don't have a ride tomorrow night because of the back week, but I'm still going to swim in the morning so I can totally relax at night.
I'm cold just thinking about the next few days. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
M :)
