Sitting on the back deck writing my blog

Today's workout:
Swim-90 minutes

Walk
Sit-ups

Brrrr! I am soooo cold! It is freezing outside! I can't stand this winter any longer! The thermometer says it's -1 degrees outside right now. And we're expecting more snow.

Oh wait, that's my parent's current weather conditions. Poor things.

Let me try this again...Blog, Take Two....

So here I am, 7 pm, on the back deck in a tank and comfy light sweatpants. Chillin' on a comfy reclining lounge chair. It's 77 degrees and it's February 21st. I love Austin. I only hope this isn't a harbinger of a super hot summer. (Peanut-there's another scrabble word for you!)

This morning I was watching the Today Show with the doors and windows open while I made breakfast. The hosts of the Today Show were outside bundled up in winter clothes and it was snowing on them. The people in the audience all had hats and gloves and scarves. I forgot it is technically still winter and I thought they were showing a re-run for some reason!

The crickets are chirping and I can see the UT tower lit up from where I'm sitting. The pups are out here with me, they are enjoying the last of the pecans.  I hear Kona bird chirping in the background. We just had a pleasant stroll up to Central Market so Chris could get a gelato. All is right in the world tonight.

The swim was good tonight. It seemed to fly by. I think I'm getting a little faster, like maybe a snail on a windsurfing board instead of just a snail trying to stay afloat. There sure were a cast of characters at the pool tonight. One woman was walking around in her bra. Not a sports bra, but her regular under-work clothes bra. She had what appeared to be her older son with her-he kept jumping in and out of the pool and sauna, and then he'd take a kick board or a noodle and jump in the pool and "swim" to all the different lanes and then try to "surf" on the kickboard or noodle.

At one point he took an old lady's goggles without asking. She got them back from him and then she came to tell me about it. (She's a regular there with me on Monday evenings.) She said that they are her prescription goggles and she couldn't believe he would just take them.

And then there were the "oglers" who inhabit the hot tub for hours on end during the evening hours,
trying not to be too obvious as they stare at all the women swimmers. A tad uncomfortable, but whatever.

And of course, what swimming blog would be complete without a commentary review of the men's choices of swimsuits, all offering different levels of support. Varying lengths, sizes, and colors. (the swimsuits, that is....)

Let's see, what else.

I have to give a shout out to Kristi and Chris for coming to my work today so I could practice my presentation! It's not related to the Ironman training at all, but I know Chris loves to see his name in the blog and I really loved having them both there today! So helpful!

I'm going to blog about a new pain in my right leg. It's above my ankle, kind of along the bone, on the outside of my leg, maybe like a shin splint or something. I'm only blogging about it so I can track how long it lasts. I'm extra sensitive and precautious about pain in my lower leg after last winter's stress fracture. I'm sure it's nothing, but I'm just going to keep an eye on it.

I think that's about it for now. What a great day.

G'night!
M :)
