Today's workout:
Swim-90 minutes
Kristi told me that her arms felt strong today, probably from the weights. So I thought maybe mine should feel stronger too. So I started the swim thinking, "My arms are stronger because of the weights. I am a faster swimmer. I am a good swimmer." All the positive affirmations I could think of. I was doing my 15 laps of warm up and I noticed that I was actually swimming faster than the lady in the lane next to me and she was swimming freestyle. Usually I don't notice the speed of people next to me, but I felt like I was trucking with my new speedy muscular arms.
Flash forward to the drills. I was doing the drill where you keep your arms by your sides and just do the froggie kick. I was half-way down the lane when I drank a full mouthful of chlorinated salt water. Yummy. I had to stand up and choke that really attractive "cough my guts up" cough that I do when I swallow pool water. While I was coughing I tried to walk real-cool like to the other end of the lane. The lady who was in the lane next to me, the one that I was swimming faster than, was standing at the end. I tried to smile like I was ok, like I couldn't believe I swallowed water-like it was something that never happens to me. The really nice friendly lady said, "Oh good, it's not just me that swallows water!" Then she proceeded to tell me that today was her third time in the pool in over 30 years and that she was just learning how to put her head under water. So much for my new speedy muscular arms! Hahahahaha!
I love how fast the Monday swim goes by. It seems so short with all the drills. I ordered a lap counter ring so that I can start to count my laps on the Wednesday swims. My plan is to start swimming the complete 2.4 mile distance every Wednesday. I assume it'll take me close to two hours. I want to get used to swimming the distance on a regular basis. I'll be sure to post a photo of my cool new ring once I get it.
OMG. Chris just changed the tv channel to the show "Jerseylicious". Please save me. There's a whole lot of "twalking" going on. Everyone wants some "wata" and a "qwater". Phew. He changed it to Criminal Minds. And he wonders why he doesn't get remote privileges very often.
No yoga tonight.
M :)
