Wind chill in the teens

Today's workout:
Run-60-70 minutes (Kristi's watch stopped working because it got too cold.)
Weights-2 x 15

The workout was pretty good tonight! The temp was in the 20s and the wind chill was in the teens. There were about seven other people on the trail. My face was only cold for the first few minutes, then I couldn't feel it anymore. The training schedule was a little hard to figure out tonight. It says 40-60 minute run with farleks, drill, and accelerations. It also says to do a 15 minute cool-down. The time that all that would take us is longer than the 40-60 minutes it says in the one section. There are two different sections that have the training in the book. The first section breaks down the work-outs specifically, telling us how many, how far, and how long. The second section is just a snapshot of the time for each workout. Sometimes they don't always match up. So we kind of combined the two and warmed up for 15 minutes, did about 4-5 fartleks for about 2 miles, then did drills and twelve accelerations, then cooled-down for about ten minutes. If it had been in the 50s we probably would have run a little farther, but it was so cold, the wind took our breath away when we were running into it. We still did more than the minimum time though.

Club Macca was packed tonight! There were more people in the gym than there were on the trail! Every piece of cardio equipment was being used. The weights felt easy tonight. Chris told me to up the weights a little more after he saw how light my weights were on Sunday. So I upped three or four of the exercises and it felt fine. I felt really good tonight. I know it's because of all the extra time I've had off. I had two great nights of sleep in a row this week, both nights about ten hours, I had Tuesday off from work which was nice and relaxing, and then we didn't ride last night. So I felt really refreshed today.

The training overall is working out really well. I like how we have a swim on Mondays after the long weekend workouts. I like how Thursday is the longest mid-week workout because it teaches your body to keep going even when it's tired-which is good training for the 17 hours its going to take me to finish the race! And I like how there's a back week every three weeks. Good for injury prevention and mental stability. Heehee! As I just typed that, I thought, I can't even remember the last time I was awake for 17 hours in a row, never mind exercising the whole time!

Wayne is out of town today. Hopefully he won't get stranded in an airport on his return trip with the snow that we're expecting tomorrow! We'll see about that....these weathermen are a little off sometimes.

Jamie-The armadillo was crazy! Way to represent Austin though! Keepin' it weird! One of my students was on American Idol last night. She didn't make it through, but they did show her for about three seconds. Good stuff!

Time to do a little snuggling with the pups!

G'night!
M :)
