Today's workout:
Run-45-50 minutes-fartlek workout
Weights-1x15
Walk-60 minutes with pups
Yardwork-90 minutes
I have to say I'm really enjoying my winter break. I could really get used to not working! I had a nice long walk with Jenni and the pups this morning, followed by a lot of yardwork. I cleaned the entire side yard-seven more bags of leaves! Thank goodness the pecan trees are all empty now. Just the backyard left to do.
After the yard, it was time for scrabble and reading. Chris took the day off from work today! We just chilled on the couch. Perfect day for it-overcast and in the 50s-60s. Lunch at Java and then we picked up our Christmas dinner form Whole Foods. After all that I realized that I hadn't drank any water today, so I started drinking a lot. Then Kristi texted and it was time to workout! Wayne finished work early so we were able to run in the daylight.
It was perfect running weather. 60 something and overcast. We had a fartlek workout scheduled for today. I had to stop to use the restroom, so K and W went on ahead. I was trying to take it easy since my leg was still sore. I managed to do three and a half fartleks for 90 seconds each with two and a half minute recovery between each one. I focused on keeping my stride short so I wouldn't pull the muscle anymore. It stopped hurting once I was running-after the warm-up.
I met up with K and W at the water stop. They said they had a good workout-they had shorter recovery time between the fartleks.
There's a fun garbage can at the water stop on Auditorium Shores. I can't remember if I already wrote about it in one of these blog entries- but when you throw something into the garbage can, it talks to you and says one of a few different things-like "Score!" or "Nice shot!" or it makes the sound of people clapping. I love that garbage can-it's so fun to watch people look all over the ground for garbage to throw out! What a unique way to Keep Austin Beautiful...and Wierd!
After the run we went to K and W's gym. I love love love doing weights at their gym. It's always practically empty and really clean. Today's highlight was the muscle man who was doing free weights while we were there. He would take about six free weights-about 30-40 pounds for each one and place them all over the ground by the bench. Then he'd put the bench at different angles and do different exercises. He would grunt, groan, and blow air out of his mouth really loudly with each lift. After each set he'd dramatically drop the weights to the floor and shake his hands out in the air-all the while breathing like he'd just sprinted a 5K. I'm sure what he was doing was very difficult, I'm only on the five pound freeweights myself, but it sure was entertaining to watch his technique and recovery!
Tonight we did one set of 15 for each exercise. That's three more than last week. I could definitely feel the extra three reps! My poor little chicken wing arms can barely handle five pounds! Hahaha!
Well, Chris just arrived with dinner-yummy Wahoos!
Until tomorrow!
M :)
